Role of Federation
The Federation was formed to help strengthen the influence of community associations on Local Government Policy in Kilkenny. The new structures in operation in Kilkenny County Council facilitate a partnership approach to the development of policy within the Council. The federation will seek a place on the Strategic Policy Committees of the Council.
The Federation will also provide a forum for the co-ordination of the various community bodies on major projects. The potential for tourism development will be enhanced, as will be the influence of community groups on development policy.
While the Federation will provide a forum for communications with the County Council and other bodies it does not assume the role of the individual affiliate associations.
