Wexford Sinn Féin Cllr Anthony Kelly has criticised the South Eastern Health Board for its continued neglect of the derelict remains of the old County Hospital and has said that he fears "a serious accident waiting to happen".
Cllr Kelly said: "It is disgraceful and shameful that the SEHB have allowed the old hospital to continue to remain as a complete eyesore. But more serious than that is the fact that young children and teenagers are attracted to this highly dangerous building and with the floors having been gutted for some time, it may only be a matter of time before a serious accident will occur.
"Do the Health Board have any real plans to deal with this continuing neglect? What are they? What timeframe have they in mind to deal with this ongoing problem? Will it take a tragic accident to occur before they finally react and take action that should have been taken long ago?
