Cllr Anthony Kelly calls for serious concerns of residents of FAB area in Wexford to be addressed.

Speaking after meeting with residents of the FAB (Ferns-Ashfield-Belvedere) area of Coolcotts in Wexford on Monday morning (Sept 30), Cllr Kelly said: "While the residents of the FAB area have expressed their appreciation for the shuttle bus service that the Town Clerk agreed to provide during the temporary closure of the laneway which provides access to these estates, there are many concerns that the residents have which need to be addressed by the borough council with some greater urgency".

"I met with the Town Clerk on last Wednesday and he agreed to provide this bus service for the residents of the FAB area while building work continues and access to the laneway is closed. This service has been greatly utilised by the residents and has enabled them to get their children to school safely in the mornings".

"Following this meeting there is also agreement in principle for a pedestrian crossing on Belvedere Road. This is vital in this area for very obvious safety reasons. The residents are very concerned that this pedestrian crossing should be provided without any unnecessary delay."

"Another area of serious concern to the FAB residents is the desire of the Borough council to erect 40 new houses on a site which has been allowed, through neglect, to become a wasteland at the back of the Community Centre. The residents have stated that they are adamant that they will not accept any further housing development in this area as they have been promised for as long as 17 years that they would be provided with a green space for their children, but are still left waiting".

"I fully support the residents in their determination to refuse any further housing development in this area and deplore the fact that the developer of this area was allowed to leave this site in an appalling condition and without providing the green space that has been promised for so long."
