| Ever since the
dawn of the Gaelic Athletic Association, Wicklow men and women worked for
its development and progress. Within a few weeks of the inaugural
meeting of the Association in Thurles, Charles Stewart Parnell became one
of its first patrons. In the intervening years Wicklow has remained
Loyal to the ethos of the G.A.A. nurtured and promoted the ideals, games
and pastimes to particular effect and often in the face of adversity. The Garden County has woven its own particular tapestry to contribute handsomely to the colourful chronicle that is the G.A.A. |
