The DORAS LUIMNI group helps Limerick imigrants. It offers its advice and informs asylum seekers about their rights and what you have to do to succeed in their integration into Ireland. This group organizes activities like: sport (soccer championship), painting, exhibitions and meeting like the day against racism in Limerick. DORAS group encourages asylum seekers to go in schools to make young people aware of their life etc. The People working for DORAS LUIMNI are mostly volunteers. DORAS is free from any religious ou ethnic influence, which means that every kind of people can participate. In limerick, the asylum seekers live mostly in three hostels in the Clyde House (Alphonsus Street), in the Westbourne Lodge (Dock Road) and in the Shannonside Hostel (Old Cratlow Road). Racism in Limerick is not really high but sometime because of the color of their skin some people are denied from others DORAS groups tries to prevent limerick population from having racist feelings. The first Limerick refugees arrived in 1950' but abviously, most of the current sylum seekers who live in Limerick have arrived in the 1990' (when the immigration has began to increase in Ireland). Some aylum seekers living in Limerick will not get the asylum status but some will.
