Community Training Workshops.

Provides a variety of innovative training and certification opportunities
to over one hundred early school leavers who are without qualification.
Designed to improve the overall vocational, intellectual, emotional
and spiritual development of the INDIVIDUAL.
Workshops include

Fast Foods
Horticulture
Catering
Soft Furnishing
Knitting
and Restaurant Work.
Certification Opportunities. FAS Integrated Assessment
System (I.A.S.)-
Basic skills training certified by FÁS.
Provides a variety of innovative training and certification.
29 Modules presently offered.
A recent FAS report indicated a 78% certification rate
for the Limerick Youth Service Community Training Workshop (the
highest rating in the Mid-West).
-National Council
for Vocational Awards - (NCVA)
Foundation Level Certificate which complements the I.A.S. programme
and the practical training in the development of core transferable
skills. Candidates are entered for assessment twice yearly.
Leaving Certificate Applied.Two Groups of trainees (Year 1 and
Year 2) presently studying for their Leaving Certificate. Applied
as part of a pilot scheme.

The Limerick Youth Service is equipped with state-of-the-art
computer equipment, networked and using digital (ISDN) lines,
to teach certified Internet and E-mail applications, whilst working
online, live!

Target Group
The most marginalised young people who are unable to engage with
any existing service and who are most at risk?These
programmes reach out to young people in their communities to
facilitate the process of integration.Programmes are flexible
and designed to meet individual needs. They are based on key
issues of importance to young people and are part activity, and
part discussion based.

Additional Accreditation Opportunities:
The majority of the daytime accreditation programmes are geared
towards vocational and academic skills. Leisure activities for
accreditation form a part of the evening, weekend and residential
provision.
