THE EUROPEAN FUND FOR PEACE AND RECONCILIATION

The Special Support Programme for Peace and Reconciliation was set up by the European Commission to foster peace, promote reconciliation and to encourage positive growth in disadvantaged communities and those that have been most affected by the conflict. The funding for this programme is made up of 75% from the European Union and 25% from the Irish Government.

Area Development ManagementLtd. (ADM) and the Combat Poverty Agency (CPA) have joint responsibility for fourteen measures of the Programme for Peace and Reconciliation.

Guiding Principles and Distinctive Features of the Programme

The EU Special Support Programme for Peace and Reconciliation is an is an individual European Community Initiative in the European Union. It was uniquely born out of the cessation of violence and the ongoing peace process. It is positively focused on those areas and communities which have been most affected by the violence within Northern Ireland and the border counties.
