Community Employment Schemes are sponsored by the City of Cork VEC supported by FAS.They provide opportunities for those unemployed to undertake important community work in institutions and organisations acquiring life skills and technical training

Who will be eligible for a community employment placement?

Any individual over 21 years and in receipt for a minimum of 12 months of either Unemployment Assistance or Unemployment Benefit.
Any individual over 21 in receipt of Lone Parents Assistance for a minimum of 12 months.
Any individual referred by the NRB.

Community Training Workshops are Vocational and Technical Training Centres located throughout the city, they are organised with financial and technical assistance provided by FAS.

The City of Cork VEC provides teaching resource in Literacy, English, Numeracy and Life skills.

The primary objectives of workshops is to provide technical and vocational training to enhance the trainees' prospects of employment, education, and self-esteem.
