This event provides the public with unparalleled opportunity to experience the energy and variety of contemporary art which Cork City has to offer. We invite the audience to see at first hand, working methods of the artist, work in progress, and other facets of the arts, which the public is normally excluded from.

Artists who are not affliated to a group studio exhibit in gallery or alternative venues. For Art Trail '98, Tig Filí and the Blackcombe Gallery (both on MacCurtain Street) are the two gallery venues, and the new Cork Vision Centre is one of the venues to be used to facilitate non-traditional art (ie. installation, performance, etc). The Triskel Arts Centre and the National Sculpture Factory will host fine art performances.

Art Trail supports the ideal of Cork as a 'centre of excellence' in the visual arts, by providing an opportunity for all of the visual artists in the Cork region to exhibit simultaneously. We also provide a platform for other areas of the arts, including performance, film, video, dance, and poetry in our 'Special Events' section.

Our 'Special Events' fringe section is very popular with the public. This year we have performances by John Spillane, Ragdoll, Nigel Rolfe, Anne Seagrave, Danny McCarthy, Yvonne McCarthy, and poetry readings by members of the Cork Women's Poetry Circle. We also have a a programme of Cork made films and videos which will be screened in selected venues throughout the Trail.
