From outside, this Watering Hole is no more than your average old style farmhouse, and it is a pleasant surprise to find the inside of the same character and vintage. In front of you as you enter is the old style and well scrubbed dresser full with willow pattern plates, bowls and other utensils from by gone days. There's no carpet or any kind of floor covering in the bar. The original flag stones are still in place. And what about the open fire and flames from the turf and logs flickering in the hearth. The furniture consists of three legged stools and tables and even three legged armchairs....it is really something to behold.
A new lounge bar was built to the premises in 1988 but it has retained its' old world look rendering it a popular watering hole and the focus of much media attention down through the years. Pub Spy visited our pub and had the following to say: "Every town in Ireland should have a pub like this. There was no sign of Biddy, but she certainly had the home fires burning to welcome us to this old style pub that is only magnificient. As for the pint? My commando suggested that it was a "Guinness Yoghurt". We are definitely returning for a night.
