Having reached the 1998 championship final and league semi-final we looked forward to a stronger challenge for honours in '99. As it proved we collected maximum points from our first six encounters and a top four position had been secured as the championship was underway. We failed to gain any more league points but with promotion in the bag and top four clinched this was of little concern. Sean O'Heslin's were conquered in the league semi-final in November. The final however was not played until the 13th of May, and Melvin Gaels were the opponents. Eight points in arrears at half time, the lads made a spirited comeback to lead by a point with 5 minutes to go. However, luck was not with us and two late goals from Melvin Gaels saw them through, to deny Bornacoola of an historic double.
