We commenced our campaign in less than convincing fashion in Fenagh but quickly gained momentum with four victories from our next five outings. The wheels came off the wagon as four losses in succession left us in relegation trouble. To their eternal credit our players rallied to the cause by winning their penultimate two matches. However, that luck was to repay its debts before season's end. Six victories from thirteen matches was only four points short of the top of the table, yet, we found ourselves in the last relegation position, just one point short of safety, after the most competitive senior league in years. Convention 2000 then rearranged the leagues and championship formats for the year 2000 and we find ourselves operating out of a senior league of sixteen teams in two groups of eight with a senior championship run on a round-robin basis, four groups of four.
