Report: Mary Kelly
In a game where two men sent off, one
from either side, Ardara took the points in a strong
battle with Four Masters.
Ardara opened the match with a point scored from a free

in the 6th minute with a great goal scored by Don Early.
Four Masters did not score until the 13th minute with a
point from play, Fergal Heena and Kevin Byrne replying
for Ardara, but they missed a certain goal chance shortly
afterwards.

play in the 24th minute. Persist-ent fouling by Ardara
saw Four Masters score three frees leaving the score at
half time Ardara 1-3, Four Masters 0-5.

A melee ensued with players from both sides Involved with
referee Robert O'Donnell having no choice in sending
Jonathon Boyle (Ardara) and Stephen Cas-sidy (Four

Two years in a rowOne of the
biggest events in the I.B.U. calendar ... "The All
Ireland 'Irish Bridge Union' Pairs Championships"
held in Templeogue, Dublin recently has been won outright
by John Joe Doherty & Dennis Ellis from the Ardara
Bridge Club in Co Donegal.
|
|
|
What makes this victory unique is the
fact that this is their second time to win The All
Ireland Pairs Championships having won it last year as
well. This is the first time in the history of the
event that this has been achieved and, bearing in mind
they were playing against the top players in Ireland,
some of whom play for the international team, it makes
their victory that much sweeter. Congratulations once
again.
