Match Report by John Roddy

Kildare uncork the bubbly in style at pitch opening

Kildare 0-19 Laois 1-10

Kildare certainly had their shooting boots on in this lively senior football challenge, at the official opening of Castlemitchell's pitch writes John Roddy.
With Ronan Sweeney and Aidan McHugh driving them forward from midfield, the Lilywhites took up where they had left off the previous evening against Longford.
Tadhg Fennin shot 0-5 in the first half, Johnny Doyle notched 0-4, Colm Reilly 0-3 and Michael Ryan shot a couple.
On the resumption Laois steadied a bit with a mag- nificent goal from Ian Fitzgerald and some good scores from Brian 'Beano' McDonald and Chris Conway.
In the end Kildare did just enough to keep their noses in front and get in some marvellous shooting practice for Sunday's clash with Cork in Nenagh.
Tadhg Fennin took the man of the match award on his own patch. However Johnny Doyle, Colm Reilly, Brian Lacey, Ronan Sweeney and debutante full back Cormac Davey fromKilcock played well.
John Kealy Brian McDonald, Colm Parkinson, Ian Frtzgerald David Sweeney, and Chris Conway were best for the Laois men.
