School Garden

This week we planted Cos lettuce seed outdoor in growing frames and indoor to transplant out later. Beside the Cos lettuce seed outdoor we sowed spring onion seed, chives and radishes.

In the garden we planted some more York cabbage plants which we got from a local supplier Green Acres Fruit and Veg on the Mill Road. These were grown in a glass house so they looked green and fresh. We covered them with netting so that the pigeons would not eat them and we put beer traps beside them to prevent slug damage.

We added some topsoil to the area of the garden that has not been planted to enrich the soil there as yields in that part of the garden were not so good last year.

Indoor the radishes, beetroot and carrots have sprouted. Nothing has come on top outdoor yet.
