The Wedding Songs of Geraldine & Paul August 4th 2001

Entrance:

Wagner’s Bridal March

Psalm:

On Eagles Wings

You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord,

Who abide in his shadow for life

Say to the Lord: "My refuge,

My Rock in whom I trust!"

And He will raise you up on eagles wings

Bear you on the breath of dawn,

Make you to shine like the sun,

And hold you in the palm of his hand.

The snare of the fowler will never capture you,

And famine will bring you no fear,

Under His wings your refuge

His faithfulness your shield.

You need not fear the terror of the night

Nor the arrow that flies by day.

Though thousands may fall about you,

Near you it shall not come.

For to His angels He's given a command,

To guard you in all of your ways;

Upon their hands they will bear you up,

Lest you dash your foot against a stone.

Gospel Acclamation:

Gospel Alleluia!

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Let us not love in word or in speech,

But in deed and in truth.

Alleluia…

 Lighting of Candles:

Candles Long Ago

One tiny spark and a candle is flickering, what a sight to see,

Just as the room is aglow with a golden light, something glows in me.

For each little candle lights up a memory and the memories show

A distant night and the loving light of the candles long ago.

Hear how the songs that were sung keep on echoing, beautiful and clear.

All of the people we loved are beside us now, can’t you feel them near?

One then there’s two soon there’s light shining everywhere,

all the world seems to know.

Every year we’ll be standing here, lit by candles long ago.

Lit by candles long ago.

Offertory:

Ag Críost an Síol

Ag Críost an síol, ag Críost an Fómhar,

In iothlainn Dé go dtugtar sinn.

Ag Críost an mhuir, ag críost an tiasc,

I líonta Dé go gcastar sinn.

Ó fhás go haois, is ó aois go bás,

Do dhá láimh a Críost, anall tharainn.

Ó bhás go críoch, ní críoch ach athfhás,

I  bParthas na nGrást go rabhaimid.

Memorial Acclamation:

He is Lord!

He is Lord! He is Lord!

He is risen from the dead and He is Lord!

Every knee shall bow , every tongue confess

That Jesus Christ is Lord!

The Great Amen:

Amen

Amen, amen amen, amen, amen...

Sign of Peace:

Peace/Lamb of God

Peace I leave  with you, my friend, my friend

And I'll be with you ‘til the end

Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world,

Have mercy on us.

Grant us peace.

Communion:

Ave Maria / I Believe

Ave Maria gratia plena,
Dominus tecum Benedictatu.
In mulieribus, et benedictatus.
Fructus ventris tui Jesu.
Sancta Maria, Sancta Maria, Maria.
Ora pro nobis, nobis pecca toribus.
Nunc et in hora, in hora, mortis nostrae.
Amen.

I believe in every drop of rain that falls
A flower grows.
I believe that somewhere in the darkest night,
A candle glows.
I believe for everyone who goes astray
Someone will come to show the way.
I believe, I believe!
I believe above the storm
The smallest prayer will still be heard.
I believe that someone in the great somewhere Hears every word.
Every time I hear a new born baby cry
Or touch a leaf, or see the sky,
Then I know why, I believe.

Wonderful World

I see trees of green, red roses too,

I see them bloom for me and you,

And I think to myself, What a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white,

The bright blessed days, the dark sacred night,

And I think to myself, What a wonderful world.

The colours of the rainbow,

So pretty in the sky,

Are also on the faces of people going by.

I see friends shaking hands

Saying “how do you do?”

They’re really saying, “I love you!”

I hear babies crying. I watch them grow.

They’ll learn much more than I’ll ever know,

And I think to myself, What a wonderful world.

And I think to myself, What a wonderful world.

Put Your Hand In The Hand

Put your hand in the hand of the man

Who stilled the waters

Put your hand in the hand of the man

Who calmed the sea

Take a look at yourself

And you can look at others differently,

By putting your hand in the hand

Of the man from Galilee.

Every time I look into the Holy Book I wanna tremble,

When I hear about the part,

Where the carpenter cleared the temple.

For the buyers and the sellers

Were no different fellas than what I professed to be.

And it causes me shame to know

We’re not the people we should be.

Communion Reflection:

Oh Lord Hear My Prayer
Oh Lord hear my prayer,

Oh Lord hear my prayer,

When I call answer me.

Oh Lord hear my prayer,

Oh Lord hear my prayer,

Come and listen to me.

Signing of the Register:

The Voyagers

I  am a sailor; you’re my first mate,

We signed on together and coupled our fate.

We hauled up our anchor determined not to fail,

For the heart’s treasure together we set sail.

With no maps to guide us we steered our own course

We rode out the storms though the winds blow gale force.

We sat out the doldrums in patience and hope

Working together we learned how to cope.

Life is an ocean and love is a boat.

In troubled waters it keeps us afloat.

When we started to voyage there was just me and you.

Now gathered ‘round us we have our own crew.

Together we’re in this relation-ship.

We’ve built it together to last the whole trip.

Our true destination is not marked on a chart.

We’re navigating for the shores of the heart.

When You Say Nothing

It’s amazing how you can speak right through my heart.

Without saying a word, you can light up the dark.

Try as I may I can never explain.

What I hear when you don’t say a thing.

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me.

There’s a truth in your eyes saying you’ll never leave me.

The touch of your hand says you’ll catch me wherever I fall.

You say it best when you say nothing at all.

All day long I can hear people talking out loud.

Oh when you’re holding me you drown out the crowd.

Try as they may they can never define

What’s been said between your heart and mine.

Bright Blue Rose

I skimmed across black water,

Without once submerging

Onto the banks of an urban morning.

That hungers the first light

Much much more than the mountains ever do.

And she like a ghost beside me

Goes down with the ease of a dolphin

And emerges unlearned, unshamed, unharmed.

She is the perfect creature,

Natural in every feature,

And I am the geek with the alchemist stone.

For  all of you who must discover,

For all who seek to understand,

For having left the path of others,

You find a very special hand.

And it is a holy thing and it is a precious time,

And it is the only way.

Forget-me-nots among the snow,

It’s always been and so it goes

To ponder his death and his life eternally.

One bright blue rose outlives all those,

Two thousand years and so it goes,

To ponder his death and his life eternally.
