Christian Baptism could rightly be claimed to be the most revolutionary in human history. The fact that one is reborn in Christ is infinitely more important than one is born of certain parents, or in a certain income group, a certain residential area or a particular social class (Irish Bishops)

DAY OF PRAYER AS ALL RELIGIONS UNITE
Pope John Paul has invited the leaders of World Religions especially from the Moslem world to join him in Assisi for a Day of Prayer for Peace on January 24. He wishes to remind the world that religion must never be a reason for hatred or violence. At this time humanity needs to see gestures of peace and hear words of hope.
The Pope has asked the church all over the world to join in this Day of Prayer.
