BUILDING AND REORDERING OF CHURCHES
The Place of Reservation.
The place of reservation relates to the ancient tradition of reserving the Blessed
Sacrament when Mass is over. The purpose of this reservation is to provide for
Communion of the sick and for adoration, both public and private.
In designing for reservation it should be kept in mind that the eucharistic celebration itself is the true centre of the Churchs worship, and indeed the whole Christian life. The actual celebration of the eucharistic is the focus of the normal Sunday assembly, and the altar its centre.

BUILDING AND REORDERING OF CHURCHES
The Place of Reservation.
The location and design of the tabernacle and its setting should be determined in the light of the following principles:
As with other liturgical elements, the tabernacle should have its own distinctive location,
visibly set part for the purpose of reservation. Much more is therefore required than a merely arbitrarily chosen place, however convenient.

BUILDING AND REORDERING OF CHURCHES
THE PLACE OF BAPTISM
The baptistery is the area which contains the baptismal font, or in which the Baptismal water flows. The area should be reserved for the celebration of baptism And should be located and designed with the utmost care.
With the exception of the sanctuary and the space in which the Blessed Sacrament is Reserved, no area in the church is excluded as a possible location for the baptistery, provided the area is large enough to accommodate a good number of people, and provided the faithful can participate in the celebration of the sacrament. In this connection it may be noted that the entrance has a particular significance in relation to baptism, the first step in our entrance or initiation into the people of God. Here the baptism of children or the admission of catechumens normally begins. It should be remembered that the ideal occasion for the celebration is the Paschal Vigil, that the celebration may take place occasionally at Sunday Mass, and that at other times too a large number of the faithful may be present. The location of the baptistry should facilitate the participation of the faithful on these occasions.

BUILDING and REORDERING of CHURCHES
IMAGES IN THE CHURCH
The function of images
The practice of placing images in Churches for devotional reasons is a legitimate and commendable one. In the first place are images relating to the persons of the Blessed Trinity. Then there are images relating to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the saints. Special attention should be given to the mystery of salvation or the person to whom the church and the community were entrusted when the church dedicated.
The veneration of the saints is primarily a proclamation of Jesus Christ and his paschal mystery.
By celebrating the passage of these saints from earth to heaven the Church proclaims the paschal mystery achieved in the saints who have suffered and been glorified with Christ.
Christian Images
Authentic Christian images do not merely portray the persons represented or the events of salvation. Neither are they merely reminders of the virtues of the saints. It is their aim to evoke the intuition that the Lord is present in his Church, that already we enjoy communion with the saints as a foretaste of eventual union with them in his kingdom, that the mysteries of salvation history gives meaning and orientation to our lives, and that the glory promised us transfigures our existence even now.
Location of Images
It is desirable that each image have its own place designed for it, so that
Uncontrolled multiplication or haphazard location of images may devalue true
devotion and should be avoided. In particular, crosses should not be multiplied or
used merely for decorative purposes.
