MISSION SUNDAY – NEXT SUNDAY OCT 19

The theme of this year’s Mission Sunday is ‘Make His Face Shine’.

2000 years since the start of Mission, there are still vast geographical, cultural, human and social areas which have not yet been penetrated by Christ and His Gospel (Pope John Paul). Support the misionary activity of the Church by prayer, offering of suffering and a generous financial contribution.

Special Mission Sunday were handed out before Mass. We ask you to bring this envelope or an ordinary envelope to Mass next Sunday – Mission Sunday. The plate collection next Sunday will also be part of our Mission Sunday contribution.

DAY FOR LIFE

Today Sunday (Oct 12) has been designated as a ‘A Day for Life’ by the Bishops’ Conference of Ireland and Britain. A short pastoral letter is being issued and will be made available to parishioners.

POPE JOHN PAUL

On October 16 next Pope John Paul celebrates 25 years as Pope. In addition to the celebrations being held in Rome, all parishes throughout the world are asked to recognise this event. Aside from St. Peter it is only the third time in history that a Pope will have celebrated 25 years as the successor of St. Peter (Bl. Pius IX and Leo X111 being the other two). Truly one can say that Pope John Paul has spent himself totally in seeking to fulfil the mandate given to him by the Lord. Even in his infirmity he continues to proclaim the Good News to all.

In Kells there will be a special Mass on Thursday next October 16 at 6.30pm (replacing the 9.30am Mass). All who are free are invited to participate.
