"PHUNK’DUP"
Introducing a breath of fresh air to the Irish dance music market. Featuring top established homegrown musical and DJ talent from the Impulsive Records label and Fresh Promotions agency, "PHUNK’DUP" is an aural and visual live DJ theme assault that is tearing up venues all over Ireland. This event features the cream of some of Ireland's best technical DJs, with "PHUNK’DUP" residents DEAN SHERRY, BARRY DEMPSEY & DARREN NOLAN, serving up a selective healthy diet of cutting-edge tunes.
"PHUNK’DUP" is a live DJ show, with the DJs rotating the mixing and blending different styles in a visual as well as auditory manner. The event is the first of it’s kind in Ireland, and advances the realms of dance music and it’s entertainment forms. The music & DJs have and will again feature on nation-wide 2FM radio, courtesy of John Power, who backs the project 100%, involving regular interviews and music features as well as weekly event dates and location advertising. This event and it’s DJs are widely publicised by varying media. All the DJs have reputable club histories and references.
"PHUNK’DUP" started in late 1998 after the successful Thursday student night 'Release' finished up in Republica earlier on in the year.
Currently appearing and touring around Ireland's venues & colleges, this night is a very popular and successful full-on dance event. Recent gigs have included TCD, UCD, Legend’s & ZaZu as well as the unprecedented sell-out Maynooth College events of late 1998 and early 1999, with the opening night in attracting 1,400 people! Other one-off and residency terms are in negotiation with other venues. Appearances also to date in the GPO, Mission, Temple Theatre, Earth, Temple Bar Music Center & the Garage.
We are seeking a major Dublin weekend residency for the event presently, and already have enquiries and residencies outside the capital.
The event traveled to Istanbul in Turkey to represent Irish Dance music in March 1999, sponsored by Jameson Irish Distillers, with huge success and repeat bookings. This was a very prestigious event.
A "PHUNK’DUP" collective original recorded EP single will be released in mid-1999 on vinyl 12" & CD via Impulsive Records Ireland.
The "PHUNK’DUP" event is in planning for a nation-wide continuous tour. This will coincide with the multi-territory single release by the trio under the "PHUNK’DUP" name around September 1999.
Dates are currently being booked nation-wide for both the forthcoming tour and also actual residencies and one-off appearances, and this package will continue to tour around regionally into 2000. Please enquire for more details or bookings information.
