Leading
Irish players: Dr Eugene Gibney
Dr. Eugene Gibney is one of Ireland's
highest-rated correspondence players and obtained his ICCF international
master title last year. He is playing top board for us in NATT-5 and just
began play in the Mikhailov Memorial, organised by Russia.
Dr. Gibney lives in Lloydminster,
Alberta, Canada, and is a very active player both in Canadian and international
events. (He has sometimes been erroneously listed as a Canadian player.)
We also have an interview
with Dr Gibney on this site.
Eugene Gibney was British Junior CC Champion in
1976 and has won the Irish CC Championship
on four occasions. He has also won the Canadian Championship in recent
years. Here he annotates the decisive game for us and the download file
also includes two other annotated games that he has supplied from Canadian
championships.

ICCA is the 32-county governing body organising
correspondence chess activities for Irish players living at home or abroad.
A non-profit-making organisation, we run the national championship, Irish
teams and other activities. We are affiliated to ICCF
and the Irish Chess Union (which controls "over-the-board" chess here).
