The first mini Olympic handball blitz held in Mayo in a few years was held in Killala Community Centre on 16th of June 1999.
Four schools participated in this blitz in both the boys' and girls' competitions.
These were:
In the boys' competition, Killala NS entered two teams.
Gaoth Sáile won the girls' competition, by winning all of their matches, as did Killala A in the boys' competition.
The matches were very exciting in both competitions with a lot of goals being scored in most matches.
