will commence as soon as weather permits – to be advised.

& Jockey, Co. Tipperary. By

Novice Intermediate U. 18 pairs and singles (over the Junior track), and

January, 2004: Senior under 21, Intermediate under 15, Junior under 12. There will be an Under 10 class over a shorter course.

Easter Monday, 12th
April: Shillelagh Pony Club hunter trials at Coolboy, with the usual
classes.

Members are now required to carry their membership cards with photo ID inside their medical armbands for all inter branch and national competitions. This also applies for mounted games and show jumping.
Members with long
hair must wear hairnets when riding cross country.
If a fence steward cannot see your number clearly they cannot mark you.
Please note back protectors and hats to standard PAS015 or ASTMF1136 must
be worn for all pony club competitions. Skull
caps are required for hunter trials. No
horse or pony under 4 years of age may compete.
All tack should be
cleaned now to ensure it is in a safe condition for competing and will pass tack
inspectors. Numnahs must be saddle
shaped with no name or advertising.
No outside assistance
is allowed at any pony club competition.
Saturday, 17th April,
Hunter Trial Championships at Rosmeade,
Clonmellon, Mullingar, Co Westmeath, by kind permission of Mr.Michael Farelly.
Rosmeade is located on the N52 from Mullingar to Kells, 5 miles after
Devlin’s, opposite Ballinlough Castle.
The minimum age for competitors at
the championships is 12 years old on 1st January of the current year.
Competitors must have their ‘C’ test.
Please note a change in format for the
championships:
Class 1: Senior teams of 3, under 21 on 1st January of current year.
Maximum height of jumps 3’6”.
Class 3: Consolation pairs, under
21 on 1st January of current year.
This is not a championship competition and is now open to members who did
not compete in the teams competition. Entry
is to be made by the DC or by his or her rep. on the day.
Members of the 1st four placed teams in Class 1 are not
permitted to compete with a fellow team member, but may compete with another
pony club member.
Class 4: Junior pairs, under 14 on
1st January of current year. Maximum
height of jumps 3’. Under 14’s
who compete in the teams of 3 competition are not eligible for Class 4.
Class 5: Junior singles, for those
who compete in the Junior pairs only.
Members hoping to be chosen for Hunter Trials Teams at the Championships are encouraged to attend at least 3 Hunter Trials.
A yellow card can be issued by the Chief Steward at area qualifiers and Championships for the following :
Three yellow cards,
which may be accumulated throughout the season for all disciplines, will incur
suspension from competitions at area qualifiers and Championships.
The following are
non- Pony Club events, but our members are very welcome to attend.
Silver Spurs Dressage
Training, organised by Dressage Ireland.
The first date for training is to be confirmed during the Easter
holidays. The training is for the
Silver Spurs Assessment days which will be held during the summer holidays,
prior to the national finals. The training sessions will take place fortnightly
at Marlton Stud, Wicklow, and it is also planned to hold a training session at
each of the following 3 venues: Coolboy, Tinahely; Glandoran, Gorey; and at
Phillipa Teggin’s, Inch, Gorey. For

The Riding Club
are hosting a Hunter Trials at Coolboy on Sunday, 4th April.
Open to non AIRC members. Classes:
Open singles, Open pairs, Novice pairs and Novice singles.

Show Jumping at
Barnadown Stud, Gorey from 10am. Contact

dates will be as follows:
Horses : 4th, 10th & 28th April
Ponies : 4th, 11th & 12th April.
There will be a Newcomer’s class in both categories. For registered and
non-registered horses and ponies.
Show Jumping Clinic
with Cian O’Connor at Barnadown Stud on Thursday, 8th April, 10am
to 5pm. Please book with Maurice
Cousins (087-252 6749). This is
very good training for our members.
Show Jumping at
Kelly’s, Clologue on 24th & 25th April, for horses
and ponies, registered and non-registered.
This will include a pony Glencarrig league.
We would very much
like to encourage our members to support these shows.
There is also a Show
Jumping Clinic at Butterfly Equestrian Centre, Raheen, Camolin on 14th

Show Jumping is
also being held at Butterfly Equestrian Centre on 21st March, 4th
April and 25th April, from 10am.
Open Days
are being held for the RACE Trainee Jockey Course at Curragh House,
Dublin Road, Kildare on the following dates, all at 2pm : 6th April,
4th, 11th, 18th & 25th May.
