This coin is a light issue portrait groat of Edward IV struck in Waterford between 1472 and 1475.

This coin is the normal type for this mint with a G on the king's breast and with a small saltire (X) in two of the four quarters and at the end of CIVITAS.

The reverse mintmark is a cinquefoil.

The legends are unblundered and read:

Obverse : EDWARDVS DEI GRA DNS HYBER
Edward by the Grace of God Lord of Ireland

Reverse : POSVI DEVM ADIVTORE MEVM
CIVITAS WATERFOR
I Have Made God my Helper
City of Waterford

This coin is in Good Very Fine (GVF) condition and is on a full flan. These light portrait groats of Waterford are not particularly scarce and the Waterford pieces do occur on fuller flans than other mints. Coins in this condition or better are scarce but even pieces in Extremely Fine condition are available.
