This coin is a groat from Edward IV's doubles issue of 1467.

This is the only type of groat of this issue.

The legends are unblundered and read:

Obverse : EDWARD' D[EI]GRA DNS HYBERN
Edward by the Grace of God Lord of Ireland

Reverse : CIVITAS DV[B]LINIE
City of Dublin

Unlike all the other issues of Edward there is no cross arms to divide up the reverse legend - so this issue uses the sun and rose motifs of Edward IV to divide the reverse legend into four sections.

This coin is in About Fine (AF) condition and has a repaired break in the flan and a missing section.

There are only six known specimens - three in public collections and three in private hands so holding out for a choice specimen is not really an option !

However the slightly less rare Double Groat of the same issue is a very impressive coin in high grade (illustrated)
