This coin is a penny struck in Limerick by John after he became King of England under the authority of the moneyer Willem.

The legends are clear with no blundering and read:
(obverse) IOhA NNES RE X(reverse) +WILL EM ON LIME
Which translates as King John / William of Limerick

This coin is in Good Fine (GF) condition it was struck on a poor quality flan and was struck badly giving a large area of flatness on the flan - the net grade is Good Fine. The well struck areas of the coin show some residual mint lustre and are in considerably better condition than the net grade.

John pennies of Limerick are scarce - compared to the Dublin pieces which are not scarce. Limerick (and the rarer Waterford) pennies are often poorly struck and often have areas of flatness like this one.
