This coin is a halfpenny, struck in Dublin by the moneyer Turgod, from the period when John was Lord or Ireland but not yet King of England.

The legends are unblundered but are abreviated and read:

+ IOHANNeS DO ( IOHANNES DOMINUS HYBERNIE) - John Lord of Ireland

+ TVRGOD ON DWe - Turgod of Dublin

This example is in Extremely Fine (EF) condition with traces of mint lustre in the devices. The coin is slightly off centre, but this is a common feature of this issue and this specimen is better centered than most examples. These halfpennies are not particularly scarce but examples in this condition or better are rare.
