This coin is a half groat (2 pence) from Edward IV's heavy portrait issue of 1465.

It was issued in Dublin.

The legends read:

EDWAR DI GRA DNS HYBERNI (Edward by the Grace of God Lord of Ireland)

POSVI DEVM ADIVTORE MEVM (I have made God my helper)

CIVITAS DVBLINIE (City of Dublin)

This is the variety of the heavy issue halfgroat with the annulets either side of the neck.

This coin is in About Fine condition - it has reasable wear across the entire coin with some areas of light striking being worn to flatness. Halfgroats of this issue (or any other issue of Edward IV) are generally very scarce and this variety is rare.

The total population of halfgroats of the heavy issue of Dublin is no more than about 18 examples with only about 6 being of this variety.
