These are four pieces of Celtic Ringmoney with an Irish provenance. Celtic Ringmoney occurs in various forms across most of the Celtic regions of North Western Europe. They occur in gold plated and solid gold versions and with either plain or twisted surfaces. As Ringmoney from England and Nothern France is quite common having a proper provenance is critical for Irish pieces. Condition is not as much of a factor in the value of Ringmoney as it is in most other Irish numismatic items. As each piece is different the critical factors are type, style and size. These pieces were offered for sale in Spink's 1970 'Green List' copy of the Numismatic Circular. See also : Hit your back button to return to the page you came from or select : |
