This is a Henry III type I penny by the moneyer Ricard.

This is a classic type I coin with a sexfoil to the right of the bust, a pronounced double line of pellets forming the beard, the shoulders are formed from pellets and the crown is formed from arcs and pellets.

The legends are:

Obverse : heNRI CVSR eX III (Henry III King)
(The second vertical of the N is shared with the R)

Reverse : RIC ARD OND IVE (Ricard of Dublin)
(The second vertical stroke of the N is shared with the D of DIVE)

This coin is in Extremely Fine condition but has some areas of flatness which detract from its appearance. The type I coins of Henry III are normally well executed coins and many of the high grade examples are of this type.
