This is a Henry III type II penny by the moneyer Davi.

This is a classic type II coin with a cinquefoil to the right of the bust, a clear double line forming the triangle, the crown fleur is clearly joined to the band and there are no pellets in the obverse legend.

This specimen has an unjewelled band to the crown and has an unusual reverse legend in which the Mint (Dublin) is spelled Develin instead of the more normal spelling Diveli which the moneyer Davi uses.

The legends are:

Obverse : heNRI CVSR eX III (Henry III King)
(The second vertical of the N is shared with the R)

Reverse : DAV IOND eVe LIN (DAVI of Dublin)
(The second vertical stroke of the N is shared with the D of Develin

This coin is in Extremely Fine condition but has some areas of flatness which detract from its appearance - this flatness is almost certainly from the minting process and the coin is actually very close to its original mint state. The type II coins of Henry III are normally moderately well executed coins. This specimen is of additional interest because of the unusual reverse legend.
