Primrose Cottage
Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim, Ireland.

Primrose Cottage is on the Leitrim / Roscommon border about one mile from the popular tourist town of Carrick-on-Shannon, on the longest river in Britain and Ireland. Some of the local attractions are described below:

Carrick-on-Shannon This bustling town, about 1 mile (1.5 km) away, is the hub of the region and a popular tourist base. It is situated on the river Shannon (the longest river in Ireland), and boasts numerous attractive pubs, live Irish music, restaurants, a riverside walk, festivals (the Regatta in the first week of August and the Shannon Festival in the first week of June), the second smallest church in the world, river cruises, golf, swimming pools, a leisure centre, and home base for many river cruisers.
Lough Key Forest Park This verdant park 5 miles away encompasses Lough Key, a lake studded with islands. Boats can be hired to cruise on the lake and visit the tiny islands, including Castle Island (which has an old ruined castle), and an island populated only by a herd of goats.Wild deer and other wildlife inhabit this park (one of the largest forest parks in Ireland), and may be glimpsed on some of the forest walks. There is an adventure playground for children, restaurants, and lake cruises.
