My name is Aidan Coughlan and I live in Ballybrit. I go to school in St. Michael's Boys School in Mervue. We won the Green Schools Award this year. We received the award in Dublin. It was sponsored by Coca Cola. The minister of education, Micheál Martin presented it to Mr. O' Dwyer. We also got to meet the Mayor of Galway, Angela Lupton. My hobbies are cycling, reading, swimming, Gaelic football and soccer. I play for the local soccer team, Mervue Utd. They won the city league last year. I support Manchester United. I go swimming every Thursday in Leisureland. There are a lot of factories around Mervue such as Thermo King, where they make fridges for trucks. In Mullincrodt they make life support machines. My father works there as a technical support specialist. He has to travel a lot to other countries to fix machines. At Royal Tara they make pottery and china. My father is also the assistant manager at the Galway race track. It is owned by Bord na gConn. Galway United's home ground is Terryland Park. Their shirts are maroon and black and their shorts are maroon. The ground can hold up to 8000 people. Their record attendance was 7260 against Cork City in 1994. Their seating capacity will be 1400 when the new stand is complete.
