Schoolhouse Hotel (3)
Another large piece (27" x 19½") has a painting of Deane & Woodward, Architects, who designed the original hotel. I deliberately chose a sepia-toned palette (using gouache and coloured pencils) to suggest an “old-world” look.

Each piece in the Schoolhouse Series has a title in uncial calligraphy, written in terracotta gouache. Decoration was by means of copper foil on each letter, and the detail, above, shows this effect.
