"The Glue Tour"
LOOKING GOOD

For seven years, 1929-35, the world of table tennis was completely dominated by an incomparable champion, Victor Barna of Hungary he was a model of style and grace and what is more he had good dress sense. A good dress sense can mark you out as a competent player.

Who is this with the Swathling Cup?

"The general dress worn by men, is a pair of grey flannel trousers and a dark-coloured short-sleeved sports shirt. Women's clothes, as is perhaps natural, have passed through various fashions, from evening gowns to very queer shorts. But now they are becoming standardised to a sports shirt, and a grey flannel skirt, sometimes a divided one."

"The Defensive Stroke."

"In a championship, more than one shirt is necessary, and a complete change acts as a valuable refresher. In addition a bottle of "eau de Cologne" for bathing the forehead is now popular with good players."
