CLUB INFORMATION

CODE OF CONDUCT
THIS CODE IS APPLICABLE TO EVERYONE ASSOCIATED WITH THE CLUB IE ALL MEMBERS, PARENTS/GUARDIANS AND CLUB LEADERS/COACHES EVERYONE THEREFORE IS REQUIRED TO ABIDE BY THE CONTENTS OF THE FOLLOWING SECTIONS.

· PLAYING MEMBERS (NOVICE, JUNIOR, SENIOR AND ASSOCIATE)

· PARENTS/GUARDIANS

· CLUB LEADERS/COACHES

CHILD PROTECTION POLICY
We in Kesh Table Tennis Club are committed to good practice, which will protect children from harm. Staff and volunteers accept and recognise their responsibility to provide an environment which promotes the safety of the child at all times in order to safeguard the children in our care we will:

1. Develop an awareness of the issues, which may lead to children being harmed.

2. Create an open environment by identifying a 'Contact person(s)' to whom the children can turn to if they need to talk.

3. Adopt child centred and democratic coaching styles ensuring that coaches are kept up to date with changing methods and also encouraging coaches to further their own qualifications.

4. Adopt child protection guidelines through codes of conduct for players and all adults working in the club. Adult workers include coaches, parents, leaders and volunteers.

5. Will not tolerate any discrimination, harassment or bullying on any grounds from any person within the club including players, coaches, adult helpers, parents or any person connected with our club.

6. Ensure careful recruitment, selection and management procedures.

7. Ensure any complaints are dealt with expeditiously by the management committee.

8. Share information about concerns with children and parents and others who need to know.

9. Provide information as required to statutory bodies.

10. Ensure that coaches and adult helpers receive adequate training via the relevant agencies and to strengthen links with such agencies and to seek advice when necessary.

11. Keep child protection policy under regular review.

PLAYING MEMBERS
1. PLAYERS WILL PLAY FOR ENJOYMENT AND TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE NOT JUST TO PLEASE THEIR PARENTS OR COACH.

2. WHERE RULES APPLY PLAYERS TRY TO UNDERSTAND THEM AND STICK TO THEM.

3. PLAYERS ACCEPT THE DECISIONS OF COACHES AND OFFICIALS.

4. PLAYERS WILL CONTROL THEIR TEMPERS AT ALL TIMES AND WILL REFRAIN FROM USING FOUL OR ABUSIVE LANGUAGE.

5. PLAYERS WILL BE 'GOOD SPORTS' THEY WILL CHEER ALL GOOD PLAY, WHETHER IT IS OUR PLAYERS OR OPPONENTS.

6. THE AIM OF THE GAME IS TO HAVE FUN, IMPROVE SKILLS AND TO FEEL GOOD.

7. PLAYERS WILL WORK EQUALLY HARD FOR THEMSELVES AND THE TEAM.

8. PLAYERS WILL CO-OPERATE WITH THE COACH, TEAM MATES AND OPPONENTS WITHOUT THEM THERE IS NOT A GAME.

9. PLAYERS WILL TREAT ALL PLAYERS AS THEY THEMSELVES WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED. THEY WILL NOT 'BULLY' OR TAKE UNFAIR ADVANTAGE OF ANY PLAYER.

PARENTS/GUARDIANS
KESH TABLE TENNIS CLUB BELIEVES THAT PARENTS PLAY A VERY IMPORTANT ROLE IN THEIR CHILDS DEVELOPMENT IN SPORT TO THAT END THE CLUB WOULD ASK ALL PARENTS TO CONTRIBUTE TO KESH TABLE TENNIS CLUB AND THEIR CHILDS PARTICIPATION IN THE SPORT OF TABLE TENNIS.

IN PARTICULAR THE CLUB WOULD ASK ALL PARENTS TO:
1. ENCOURAGE BUT NOT FORCE A CHILD TO PARTICIPATE IN TABLE TENNIS OR THE CLUB.

2. RECOGNISE THAT CHILDRENS ENJOYMENT IN SPORT AND AS A MEMBER OF THE CLUB IS PARAMOUNT.

3. EMPHASISE ENJOYMENT AND FUN AND WILL PRAISE AND REINFORCE EFFORT AND IMPROVEMENT.

4. PROMOTE AND TEACH FAIR PLAY BY SETTING A GOOD EXAMPLE.

5. TEACH THEIR CHILDREN THAT EFFORT AND TEAMWORK ARE AS IMPORTANT AS WINNING.

6. HELP THEIR CHILD TO SET REALISTIC GOALS, IMPROVE THEIR SKILLS AND DEVELOP A POSITIVE SPORTING ATTITUDE.

7. NEVER RIDICULE OR SHOUT AT ANY CHILD FOR MAKING A MISTAKE OR LOSING A GAME.

8. ACKNOWLEDGE AND APPLAUD GOOD PLAY BY ALL PLAYERS INCLUDING OPPOSING PLAYERS. THEY WILL SET A GOOD EXAMPLE BY BEING FRIENDLY TOWARDS THE OPPOSING TEAM, ITS SUPPORTERS AND PARENTS.

9. PUBLICLY ACCEPT AN OFFICIALS JUDGEMENT AND NEVER QUESTION THEIR HONESTY.

10. SUPPORT ALL EFFORTS TO REMOVE VERBAL AND PHYSICAL ABUSE FROM THEIR CHILDS SPORT.

11. RECOGNISE AND SUPPORT THE VALUE OF COACHES AND OTHERS WITHIN THE CLUB WHO GIVE UP THEIR TIME, EXPERTISE AND RESOURCES TO PROVIDE GUIDANCE FOR THEIR CHILD.

12. OFFER WHATEVER ASSISTANCE THEY CAN TO THE RUNNING OF THE CLUB AND THEIR CHILD WHERE POSSIBLE IE BY PROVIDING TRANSPORT TO TRAINING, COMPETITIONS, WATCHING MATCHES AND TRAINING SESSIONS. MAKING SURE THAT THEIR CHILD HAS APPROPRIATE CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT. SUPPORTING FUND RAISING AND SOCIAL EVENTS.

KESH TABLE TENNIS CLUB ALREADY ACKNOWLEDGE AND VALUE THE SUPPORT OF PARENTS AT THE CLUB BUT WOULD ASK THAT PARENTS TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION SERIOUSLY THE AFOREMENTIONED POINTS WHICH WE BELIEVE WILL HELP MAKE OUR CLUB A SUCCESS.

CLUB LEADERS/COACHES
1. CLUB LEADERS/COACHES MUST RESPECT THE RIGHTS, DIGNITY AND WORTH OF EACH AND EVERY PERSON AND TREAT EACH EQUALLY WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF THE SPORT.

2. CLUB LEADERS/COACHES MUST PLACE THE WELL-BEING AND SAFETY OF EACH PLAYER ABOVE ALL OTHER CONSIDERATIONS, INCLUBING THE DEVELOPMENT OF PERFORMANCE.

3. COACHES MUST ADHERE TO ALL GUIDELINES LAID DOWN BY KESH TABLE TENNIS CLUB, FERMANAGH TABLE TENNIS ASSOCIATION AND THE IRISH TABLE TENNIS ASSOCIATION. .

4. CLUB LEADERS/COACHES MUST DEVELOP AN APPROPRIATE WORKING RELATIONSHIP WITH EACH PLAYER BASED ON MUTUAL RESPECT AND TRUST.

5. CLUB LEADERS/COACHES MUST NOT EXERT UNDUE INFLUENCE TO ABTAIN PERSONAL BENEFIT OR REWARD.

6. CLUB LEADERS/COACHES MUST ENCOURAGE AND GUIDE PLAYERS TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR OWN BEHAVIOUR AND PERFORMANCE.

7. CLUB LEADERS/COACHES MUST ENSURE THAT THE ACTIVITIES THEY DIRECT OR ADVOCATE ARE APPROPRIATE FOR THE AGE, MATURITY, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITY OF PLAYERS.

8. CLUB LEADERS/COACHES SHOULD AT THE OUTSET CLARIFY WITH THE PLAYER (AND WHERE APPROPRIATE THEIR PARENTS) EXACTLY WHAT IS EXPECTED OF THEM AND ALSO WHAT THEY ARE ENTITLED TO EXPECT FROM THEIR COACH.

9. CLUB LEADERS/COACHES MUST CO-OPERATE FULLY WITH OTHER SPECIALISTS (EG OTHER COACHES, OFFICIALS, DOCTORS, and PHYSIOTHERAPISTS) IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE PLAYER.

10. CLUB LEADERS/COACHES MUST ALWAYS PROMOTE THE POSITIVE ASPECTS OF THE SPORT (EG FAIR PLAY) AND NEVER CONDONE VIOLATIONS OF THE LAWS OF THE GAME BEHAVIOUR CONTRARY TO THE SPIRIT OF THE LAWS OF THE GAME OR RELEVANT RULES AND REGULATIONS OR THE USE OF PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE OF TECHNIQUES.

11. COACHES MUST CONSISTENTLY DISPLAY HIGH STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOUR AND APPEARANCE.
