Our chess club was founded in 1999 by Mr. Alec Hughes and has grown from strength to strength in the meantime. We enter teams annualy in the Leinster Schools League and also the ESB Checkmate Competition.We reached the All- Ireland Finals in 2001 and finished in a very creditable 14th place. In 2002 we were unbeaten in all competitions and reached the finals in the ESB Competition once again.We finished in the top 30 out of approx. 100 schools.The 2003 season was our best yet, finishing a very creditable 6th in Ireland!THe Chess Club meet weekly under the supervision of Mr. Hughes.
