Portumna Community School offers its' students both a full range of subjects and a full range of programmes.
After three years students undertake the Junior Certificate in 8 subjects. As well as Irish, English, Maths, History and Geography. Students also take four of the following:

Religion, P.E. Computer Studies and games are taken as non-exam subjects.
After Junior Cert. there are three options:
Transition Year
Leaving Certificate
Leaving Certificate Applied.
