History

Here is a short history of second level education in Portumna.

Portumna Community School is  a "descendant" of four schools:

St. Brigid's Vocational School   was the first second level institution in the area and was built in 1939 after strenuous efforts by  Monsignor Joyce who was at the time the local Parish Priest.

St Molaise's College was founded in 1956 and was located in Dominick St. Portumna in what was originally an RIC Barracks
