Joining JSC in December of 1998, I was employed as a Systems Administrator. This entailed day-to-day maintenance of the existing LAN (4 NT servers and 30 clients), support for clients and planning the integration of a second LAN (2NT servers and 10 clients) in Melbourne, Australia.

Day-to-day administration had been neglected up to then, so I set out a plan for network maintenance and contingency planning. I also initiated daily and weekly back-up routines and a PC client maintenance program.

Strategically I researched, costed and drew up an outline, with some ISPs, to enable a WAN that would allow mobile users to link into the network anywhere in the world. I also developed a 2- 5 year IT strategy for JSC which is designed to take them into the new century with scope for continual growth and scalability for the organisation as a world-wide company.

I enjoyed my time with Julia Schofield Consultants, but felt I had taken them as far as they are willing to go at that stage.
