DERRY & RAPHOE ACTION: MISSION STATEMENT

Derry & Raphoe Action exists to create self-confidence and encourage community development processes in mainly rural Protestant communities in the counties of Londonderry, Tyrone and Donegal

WHAT IS DERRY & RAPHOE ACTION?

An organisation originally formed from within the Church of Ireland, but which, has evolved to include Protestants from various traditions

WHAT AREA DO WE COVER?

The rural areas of Counties Donegal, Tyrone and Londonderry

WHAT IS THE PROJECT'S AIM?

To encourage Protestants to play a more active role in the community development process in Counties Donegal, Tyrone and Londonderry, and to encourage networking between community groups.

HOW ARE WE DEALING WITH THESE ISSUES?

We are acting as an information Network ensuring groups are kept informed of funding. We have also organised training to help build confidence. Lobbying funders to be more sensitive and understanding towards rural Protestants. Passing on information to interested groups.

WHAT ABOUT THE CROSS-BORDER ASPECT OF THE PROJECT?

We are working to build self-confidence within the Protestant community in Donegal. We are also encouraging links between Protestants on both sides of the border.

We are committed to developing peoples vision and enabling them to be proud of their faith, culture and heritage so that Protestants can play a positive role in society on both sides of the border

Counties Londonderry & Tyrone: The Vision To build self-confidence within the Protestant population and enable them to fully particapate in the social and public life of their respective communities	County Donegal: The Vision Protestants living in Donegal will become more confident, outward looking and empowered and feel that they have a positive contribution to make to the community	Cross Border: The Vision Protestants will play an active role in community life on both sides of the border and will work together on social, economic, cultural and environmental issues.
