World Council of Churches; Programme to overcome violence
- In response to the rising tide of violence, the World Council of Churches launched a Programme to Overcome Violence (POV) in 1994. The POV seeks to engage with churches, religious and secular communities and others in a "journey of transformation," inspiring them to do more to build a culture of peace with justice. Through the programme, the WCC hopes to stimulate renewed vision, deeper analysis and more creative methods for building peace.
