| Junior Certificate Subject Options |
All first year students entering the experience the full range of availible subjects. This provides a 'taste' of each subject, and assists in the choice of subjects, made at the end of the first year. First Year Subjects: IRISH, ENGLISH, FRENCH, GERMAN, HISTORY, GEOGRAPHY, MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE, BUSINESS STUDIES, HOME ECONOMICS, ART, CRAFT & DESIGN, MATERIALS TECHNOLOGY (WOOD), MATERIALS TECHNOLOGY (METAL), TECHNICAL GRAPHICS, RELIGIOUS EDUCATION, CIVIC, SOCIAL & POLITICAL EDUCATION, PHYSICAL EDUCATION. For the second and third year of the Junior Cycle, leading to the Junior Certificate Examination, pupils take the following subjects: IRISH, ENGLISH, HISTORY, GEOGRAPHY, MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE, CIVIC, SOCIAL & POLITICAL EDUCATION, together with options from: HOME ECONOMICS, MATERIALS TECHNOLOGY (WOOD), MATERIALS TECHNOLOGY (METAL), GERMAN, FRENCH, ART, CRAFT & DESIGN, TECHNICAL GRAPHICS, BUSINESS STUDIES. In addition RELIGIOUS EDUCATION and PHYSICAL EDUCATION are taken but are not examined in the Junior Certificate.
