Republican POW victimised  in Maghaberry

IN A statement on November 16 Republican Sinn Féin POW Department also condemned the ill-treatment of Republican POW Stiofán Ó Dálaigh in Maghaberry prison.
The statement said: “As a Republican POW Stiofan refused to do prison work. He also refused to be forced by the prison regime to be placed with sex offenders.

“Because he has refused to be treated as a criminal he now finds himself on the boards. Republican Sinn Féin demands that the ill-treatment of Republican POWs is ended and Republican political prisoners be treated as such.

“We call on everyone to support the Republican prisoners in their struggle for POW status. We also call for an end to the on-going censorship on the Republican prisoner issue.”

• Stiofán Ó Dálaigh from Co Tyrone was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment by a non-jury Diplock court for possession of arms and explosives during October. His wife Helen, who had been charged along with him, was acquitted.
