MRS Kathleen Bourke died at the great age of 101 years in Ballinasloe on November 17. Born Kathleen O'Connor in Lative, Portmagee, Co. Kerry in 1901, she served with Cumann Na mBan from 1918 to 1921.While married and living in Galway city at Newcastle and later at Oranswell, Bushy Park she stood by her family, Danny and the late Peader, in all their Republican activities.
Republicans in Galway and elsewhere are mindful of her solid support
for the Movement and her many kindnesses during the 1950s and 1960s.
Deepest sympathy is conveyed to her daughter Mary (California), sons
Seán (Ballinasloe), Danny (Belfast), son-in-law and daughters-in-law,
grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great granddaughter, relatives
and friends.
The removal took place to St James's Church, Bushy Park on November
19. Following Mass the following day, the funeral was to Bushy Park Cemetery.
