REPUBLICANS in Newry and South Armagh were greatly saddened to learn of the death of Mary Rose Brady, of Monaghan Row, Newry who died on November 19.Mary Rose, who was 83 years of age, had been an active revolutionary Republican since the early days of the Civil Rights Movement. After the split in 1969/70 Mary Rose stuck to her principles and took the Republican side. She was one of the organisers of the Easter Commemoration in Newry in the 1970s.
When internment was introduced she was always thinking of the prisoners and was active in the Relatives Action Committee and the Green Cross. In 1986 she stood by the true Republican Movement again, her dearest wish as always being freedom and independence for her country.
Mary Rose Brady loved her country deeply, and she was also a caring person, always helping out in the local community. She will be sadly missed. Members of Republican Sinn Féin were in attendance at the funeral. Deepest sympathy is conveyed to her sons, daughters and entire family circle.
