Terra Nova Plant List
2005/06
Terra Nova Garden is
home to a very tiny nurserykins that produces unusual plants that are either
grown from seed or by division of plants that live here in the garden. You are
welcome to come and buy them at anytime, but it is advisable to look at the
list below to give you an idea as to the type of plants you are likely to find
when you get here. For the past 6 years I have offered a mail order service,
but have decided to reduce the selection of plants
that I send out by post this winter, so only the plants highlighted in blue are
available by mail order from October to March. P & P is €3.00 (Ireland) or
€4.00 (UK & Europe) Please check on availability of plants first by
emailing me at terranovaplants@eircom.net All of the other plants are available for collection at my nurserykins or by
pre-ordering to be collected at one of my illustrated lectures. (See ‘Events’
page)
Please note that all prices are in
euro.
Euro or sterling cheques happily
accepted! Please make these payable to ‘Terra Nova Plants’

Shiny gold rosettes of foliage that bears deep ruby flowers. A stunner! A very unusual species with green and chocolate-brown flowers. A ‘must’ for any self-respecting plantaholic! A little known aroid, with white spathes that
appear alongside the leaves in mid summer. Might be hardy in a mild winter,
otherwise lift and store in a cool dry place over the winter. A bizarre looking subtropical plant from
India. In the aroid family, this bears pinkish spathes and has dramatic
foliage and stems. Treat as half hardy and store corm in a frost free place
over winter. If you like weird and wonderful then this is
the plant for you! Native to India and Nepal, this 30” tall aroid might prove
hardy in this country, but if you are not a gambler then store the corm in a
frost free place over winter. Keep dry when dormant, but give it plenty of
food and water when in active growth. |

Arisaema information
|
These will be supplied as dormant tubers from autumn through
to early spring. They have been propagated by me from either seeds or offsets
and whilst I will try to send you flowering sized tubers, these are an
unpredictable set of plants and I cannot guarantee that it will happen in the
first year that you have them! They make marvellous garden plants as long as
a few planting rules are followed. They must NEVER be waterlogged. This is
their main enemy. A nice humus-rich well drained hole please, these guys will
perform best if you can incorporate any of the following:- Compost, leaf
mould, bark. Dappled shade is preferable, although they will tolerate sun
quite well. |
|||

nice colonies in the garden. Green and purple striped spathes. Semi-shade,
moist, well-drained soil. |

Evergreen sea blue leaves are heavily serrated and 6ft

surrounding area with hawk eyes in case of escapees. Large pink green, cream
leaves clothe bamboo like stems. Dies back to ground in winter.5-7ft. Only
responsible owners need apply! HP |
