Adult Community Education has grown significantly in the City of Cork with the emergence of Family Resource Centres, Community Education Groups, The Home School Community Liaison Service and specialist education groups for the Older Person, Disabled, Unemployed and Travellers have facilitated many adults to participate in informal education. The City of Cork V.E.C. adult education service is playing a major role in promoting Community based Adult Education.

Community Tutors who teach in Community Education are those who are highly skilled in their subject matter.  They bring to their community an enthusiasm for helping other adults to acquire or develop skills.  The majority of these tutors come from within their network areas and work in the above mentioned centres.
