Book Description
This volume contains all of the articles on the subject of Sacro Occipital Technique that were published in the chiropractic peer-reviewed literature from 1984 through early 2000. Developed by Major Bertrand DeJarnette, D.C., Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) is a comprehensive method for the diagnosis and treatment of neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction. DeJarnette applied the principles of engineering, osteopathy, and chiropractic to his conception of the body as a three dimensional holographic matrix. It is a view which encompasses the interrelationships that exist among the body and gravity, the viscera, cranial bones, cerebrospinal fluid, and meningeal dynamics, together with local and general endocrinological, neurological, and energetic effects.

Dr. DeJarnette devoted his life to the investigation of methods for treating all forms of neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction. He conducted research at a time when it was not in vogue in chiropractic. Peer-reviewed literature was not an avenue for chiropractic research until the early 1970s. To further DeJarnette's goal, the Sacro Occipital Technique Organization-USA has undertaken to support chiropractic research and to explore SOT methods of diagnosis and treatment. Compendium of Sacro Occipital Techniques represents the first single-volume collection of all published research pertaining to Sacro Occipital Technique. Supplementary volumes will be released as new research is published in the chiropractic literature in the years ahead.

About the Author
Sacro Occipital Technique Organization-USA is a chiropractic organization dedicated to following the teachings of Dr. Major Bertrand DeJarnette, furthering chiropractic research, and developing multidisciplinary relationships for improving healthcare and helping humanity. Research conducted by this organization and its members will be published in the chiropractic peer-reviewed literature.

Book Description
Dr. Perri demonstrates how eye movements and patient-assisted postures can be used to correct vertebral subluxations, somatovisceral and viscerosomatic abnormalities. The text fully demonstrates the techniques and discusses the neurological pathways activated in the applications. He fully explains how visual fields and cerebral hemispheres are linked and how this information can be applied chiropractically. Chapters include information on patterning specific chiropractic adjustments for long-term corrections using 4 different types of neuromuscular retraining. Dr. Perri demonstrates how to monitor vasomotor mirror activity during viscerosomatic corrections, and discusses DeJarnette's CMRT profiles in the context of the Conjugate Gaze Adjustive Technique. A special chapter includes how to activate global mechanisms in chiropractic corrections, and how verbal cues and speech can be used to activate specific hemispheric responses. The final chapter discusses the neuroemotional components associated with dysfunctional states and specific techniques in working with them.

About the Author
Vincent L. Perri is a doctor of chiropractic and a doctor of philosophy. He manages a full-time chiropractic practice and is certified in clinical psychotherapy. He is a member of the C.G. Jung Institute of New York, and authored a neuropsychological text titled, Language of the Archetype."
