Reader Review
This book is a gift to the Reiki Community.,
November 11, 2001
Reviewer: A reader from Long Island, NY-A Karuna
Reiki Master
The evolution of Karuna Reiki® has been a joy to behold
and this book is a gift to the Reiki community. It is a
verification (and manifestation) from the Universe about
the importance of the necessity and development of Karuna
(compassionate action) and our evolution as a species.
The realization that we are all one and the need for
compassion in everyday living is more relevant than ever.
Karuna Reiki classes are the beginning or introduction to
this compassionate healing energy. "The Book on
Karuna Reiki®" reinforces, further explains, and
builds on what it taught in class. There is additional
information as well as suggestions as to how to
incorporate Karuna energies into our lives as well as our
healing practice. The Karuna Reiki® techniques provide
guidance on how to work with clients that suffer from
allergies, addictive behaviors, anxiety, and cellular
memory release to name but a few. Laurelle's prayers and
invocations are inspirational.
I especially enjoyed the information on spiritual
guidance. Laurelle describes the various Archangels,
their divine purpose, as well as colors, chakras and
crystals associated with those angels.

Best Reiki Book Ever!, October 28, 2003
Reviewer: A reader from Cheshire, UK
This is the Reiki book you've been waiting for! It is
really comprehensive, well written, easy to understand,
and useful for anyone with an interest in Reiki, from
beginners right up to Reiki Masters. It gives a good
grounding in energy theory and the metaphysical causes of
illness, plenty of basic information about how Reiki was
discovered, how it has developed in the West and in
Japan, and what the training involves at each level.
However, its main strength is the way it explains how to
use Reiki at each level, including all the hand positions
and lots of advanced Second Degree techniques you won't
find in any other book, plus creative uses for Reiki like
enhancing your psychic ability and healing past lives. It
includes some vital information about the need for energy
cleansing and protection, plus many additional techniques
from the Reiki traditions in Japan. Added to that, it
emphasises the importance of spiritual development with
Reiki, suggests how to manage Reiki sessions and set up
as a professional Practitioner, advises on how to become
a Reiki Master, and gives brief details of 28 different
Reiki systems! It's an easy read, but an amazing resource
that you'll want to go back to again and again -
definitely the best Reiki book ever!

Everything you NEED to know about Reiki , Really!,
August 30, 2001
Reviewer: jesella
from Naples , Florida
After having taught Reiki for seven years,and practiced
Reiki for ten years, I have read a lot of Reiki books ,
many have been disappointingly repeatative or to esoteric.
This is one of two books I highly recommend to my
students, the other being Diane Steins book, Essential
Reiki. This book is well written by seekers of the
genuine roots of the Reiki Healing tradition. If you want
to understand the mind of Mikao Usui Sensai a little
better, I think these writers have revealed the truth. I
learned a lot myself and am very satisfied with the
techniques taugh here. The author's reveal the origional
manuals and techniques taught by the founders of this
tradition . Is has been great confirmation of ideas I
have intuited in my own practice and has taken me further
up the road of my own spiritual path.

Reader Review
Healing Power of Your Heart, May 12,
2000
Reviewer: Tatyana Elmanovich
(see more about me at Amazon.com)
from Encino, California United States
The reviewers heated discussion over the historical facts
of the Reiki tradition in "Reiki: Hands That Heal"
by Joyce Morris made me believe that this book presented
a distorted history of the Reiki tradition. So I bought
it as a contraversial history book and discovered that
between the covers, there was something else -- a great
handbook on natural healing. Page by page -- by the way,
superbly designed -- the reader receives detailed
instruction on how to tune into universal healing
energies, and for God's sake -- to help himself to become
more energized, optimistic, vital, and more positive, in
other words -- fit to handle daily pressure, emotional
and mental challenges.
The reviewers tell that out there are better books about
Reiki. If one has interest in Reiki history, yes, it
would make sense to buy all of them and compare facts.
But if someone is looking for a practical guide how to
learn to trust your own healing power, to enforce it
through alignment with Reiki, or universal healing force,
I cannot recommend a better book than this one. The
presentation is beautiful and clear, but most importantly
-- it stresses over and over again the simplest truth
that we tend to forget -- that health and prosperity stem
from faith and purity of our thoughts and intentions.
Cleanse your heart, and Reiki will cleanse your body for
you!
Sometimes, there is nothing better than a poor review! In
the present case, it guided me to a great book that
encouraged me to count on the healing power on my own
heart. What an idea! Why take my word for it? You may
wish to find it out on your own.

The Original Reiki Handbook of Dr. Mikao Usui,
May 1, 2000
Reviewer: A reader from United States
The translation of Dr. Usui's Reiki handbook is a a very
significant development for the Reiki community. At last
we have proof that Reiki is not an oral tradition and
that Dr. Usui gave out written material to all his
students. I find the exercises to be useful and that my
Reiki healing abilities have increased. The explainations
and the insights about the origins of Reiki are also
helpful. The color pictures of the hand positions Dr.
Usui rcommends for various illnesses and conditions are
wonderful. I have tried some of them and found them to
work. I am very pleased that we now have such detailed
information from the founder of the Usui system to use in
our Reiki practices. Thank you Arjava and Chetna for
taking the time to write this very important book.

Good Book! Practitioners must!
This book explains Reiki Very well. The pictures are done
a very spiritual way. ALL the hand positions are also
explained. Too many times I have seen books that leave
out the positions that close to or are over the private
parts. Even though these are not hand positions that
should be used on every client, it is important to show
these postitions for treatment options. The realation to
the Chakras and Reiki are very important. Walter has done
an excellent job tying the two together and explaining
how they react together. (because they do!) Good Book for
practitioners!!
A reader from Greeley, Colorado , 12 March, 1999
Solid information on Reiki and how it relates to
Chakras.
This book was a great read! I have been looking for a
good book on Reiki. This book tied Reiki with the Chakras
and it really explained it well. It also gave great
practical uses for Reiki (as if we need any!) Reiki is a
gift everyone holds. Read this book! Great for beginners!

it in my training of others. It has wonderful
illustrations and is written in a way that is easy to
follow and understand. Very informational for a new Reiki
practitioner or just someone interested in learning more
about Reiki. Most books do not cover the Chakras as well
as this one does.

Valuable Buddhist reference, December 19,
2002
Reviewer: A reader from Taipei, Taiwan
~~~This is a superb book to read in conjunction with
Richard Blackwell (Lama Yeshe)'s book Medicine Dharma
Reiki. The association of Reiki with the tradition of the
Healing, or Medicine, Buddha is even more precisely
outlined there.
Despite what one of the reviewers says about Reiki and
Buddhism, Maureen Kelly and Richard Blackwell both draw
on documents from Reiki's founder, Mikao Usui, and
extensively note his teachings in establishing and
expanding this connection. Maureen Kelly carefully~~~~
goes through secondary sources on his teachings; Richard
Blackwell is fortunate to have primary sources that he
translates from the Japanese. He adds his own commentary
as well.
This is an outstanding book on its own; I just wanted to
mention its connection to this second volume. Both are
great books to read together; each is outstanding on its
own merits-- spiritual and textual-- as well. I am a
Yogi, not a Reiki practitioner, but I have had Reiki and
my practitioners all love this book: it~~ enhanced their
knowledge and gave them a structure for their own
practices.~
Book Description
Reiki is an ancient, hands-on healing art with origins in
the Tibetan sutras. It has been used primarily by
individuals in a daily practice that helps recharge,
realign, and rebalance energy in the body. Today Reiki is
joining other complementary therapies in the conventional
settings of hospitals, hospices, counseling centers,
emergency rooms, intensive care units. Nurses, physical
therapists, surgeons, midwives, and anesthetists report
that Reiki can help manage pain and promote healing.
Counselors and caregivers treating those with terminal
illness find that Reiki gives patients an increased
physical, emotional, and psychological ability to cope.
Reiki Energy Medicine explains the body's energy system,
and describes how Reiki can be used in a variety of
settings to balance energy and create the conditions
needed for healing.
Reiki Energy Medicine is the first book to show how this
ancient art of touch therapy can work within our
mainstream health care system.
As our health-care system challenges institutions to
offer high-quality but cost-effective service, Reiki can
be an important tool that can help maximize patient care
and minimize recovery time.
Reiki does not require complicated techniques or
extensive training: practitioners of many disciplines are
able to easily incorporate it into their specialties.
About the Author
Libby Barnett, M.S.W.and Reiki Master, integrates her
healing skills with counseling experience as a medical
social worker at Massachusetts General Hospital. She has
trained physicians, psychotherapists, nurses,
psychologists, and hospice staff, and has led classes at
teaching hospitals throughout the United States.
Internal medicine, January 19, 2000
Reviewer: Kishen J Mangat
from Denver, CO
With the onslaught of new medicines, biotechnology, and
more and riskier medical procedures, it is good to know
that there is a way to minimize external manipulations of
our primary systems, in favor of curing from within.
Barnett and Chambers tell how and why to use reiki energy
for better health in a highly digestible, imminently
applicable text for all humans. The health benefits
experienced by the reiki practicioner are too many to
name - imagine the potential impact from harnessing one's
internal energy and the energy from the outside world for
healing - the applications are truly endless. As an elite
marathon runner, and a student of Barnett and Chambers, I
can testify to the "realness" and potency of
energy medicine. I recommend this book to anyone who
would like to learn more about how you can improve your
physical, mental, and emotional performance using tools
that are readily available.
